The 20th Triennial Conference of the International Council of Museums – Conservation Committee (ICOM-CC), organised by the Instituto Universitario de Restauración del Patrimonio of the Universitat Politècnica de València, will be held in Valencia, Spain, from 18 to 22 September 2023.
The Triennial Conferences of the Conservation Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM-CC) are a world-class cultural event. Around a thousand heritage conservation and restoration professionals meet to present results and share experiences, ideas and technical advances. Following the success of Copenhagen 2017 and Beijing 2020 (in online format), València 2023 represents an exceptional opportunity to expand contacts and exchange knowledge with colleagues from all over the world. The conference includes a series of carefully selected paper and poster presentations, a trade fair, various social and cultural events and technical visits to Valencian and Spanish museums and conservation centres.

The Plenary Session on Monday 18 will be held at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and will include the welcome speeches and the keynote lectures. During this day, conference attendees will also enjoy the celebration of a Valencian gastronomic fair, in order to promote and disseminate the rich tourist and cultural offer of the Valencian Community.
TECHNICAL VISITS
During ICOM-CC 20th Triennial Conference, assistants will be able to choose between almost 40 technical visits to cultural heritage workshops, museums, and institutions in València and its surroundings. In these visits, professionals from the hosting institution will walk the visitors through exhibition rooms, storage areas or conservation workshops, discussing in situ some of the problems and solutions found in each particular case.
Remember that, in order to attend these technical visits, you must be registered for the conference.
YOUNG CONSERVATOR / STUDENT MEMBER FEE
In order to help conservation students and young conservators to attend the conference, ICOM-CC and the National Organising Comittee of the ICOM-CC València 2023 Conference are offering a special registration at a highly reduced price. If you are affiliated with ICOM as an «ICOM Student Member» you can register with this fee.
Please note that this does not apply to ‘regular’ ICOM Members, regardless of whether they are enrolled in a program or course. Regarding the Young Conservator fee, you can register as such whether you are an ICOM member or not and regardless of your professional (or not-yet professional) status.
If you want to register as a Young Conservator, you will need to provide proof that you were born in 1998 or later.
